Key Care Requirements
  • Light: Thrives in bright, filtered sunlight. Place it near an east- or south-facing window, but avoid harsh, direct midday sun which can scorch the leaves. Rotate the plant a quarter-turn every week to ensure even growth.
  • Watering: Wait until the top \(5\) to \(7.5 \text{ cm}\) (2 to 3 inches) of soil are dry to the touch before watering thoroughly. Overwatering is the most common cause of leaf drop and root rot.
Soil & Fertilizer: Use a well-aerated, fast-draining soil (a mix of standard potting soil, peat moss, and perlite). Fertilize monthly during the spring and summer growing seasons with a liquid houseplant fertilizer. Do not fertilize in the fall or winter.Temperature & Humidity: Keep room temperatures between 18°C and 27°C (65°F to 80°F). They prefer 40% to 60% humidity. Keep the plant away from drafty windows and AC or heating vents.Maintenance: Regularly wipe down the large leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and improve photosynthesis.Repotting: They prefer to be slightly rootbound.
